After missing the Test series against South Africa and England, India’s Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler, gave a significant update on his health on Monday by revealing that he had surgery on his Achilles tendon in the UK. Following his social media update, it was revealed that he would not be participating in any Indian Premier League (IPL) games this season. Though Shami remains optimistic about making the Indian T20 World Cup team, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent him a “surprising” message.

Moments after Shami shared an update on his surgery, where he said that he is “looking forward to get back on his feet”. PM Modi responded to the post on X, wishing the fast bowler a speedy recovery. He wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery and good health, @MdShami11! I’m confident you’ll overcome this injury with the courage that is so integral to you.”

Startled by the Prime Minister of India’s message, Shami thanked him for his well-wishes and encouragement, and pledged to heal swiftly. “Getting a personal note from Prime Minister Narendra Modi sir wishing me a speedy recovery was such a wonderful surprise. I am genuinely touched by his thoughtfulness and kindness. Sincerely i appreciate your kind words and assistance during this difficult time, Modi Sir. He say i will continue to work hard towards my recovery, Thank you all for your continued wish ,love and support,” he replied.
