There must be a replacement for Kohli, Who will replace Jadeja, Sarfaraz vs. Patidar?

India are a little confused two days after their heartbreaking 28-run defeat in the first Test, their first-ever in Hyderabad. The second Test match between India and England, which is schedule to take place in Visakhapatnam on February 2, will not feature all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja or batter KL Rahul. Jadeja sustained a hamstring strain, and the other person reported experiencing quadriceps pain. Who will replace Jadeja?

Moreover, Virat Kohli, who had previously disclosed that he would miss the first two games of the five-game series due to personal reasons, will not participate in the match either. Captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid are baffle by the forced changes regarding four crucial aspects of the starting lineup.

Who will replace Kohli’s replacement KL Rahul at No. 4?

Since that India won’t have another reliable batsman after Rohit, it might be the most important selection in the lineup. Furthermore, Rahul was one of the three Indian hitters to score 80 or more when batting at Kohli’s No. 4 spot in the first Test. Therefore, if there isn’t any other choice, maybe Shreyas Iyer will be given the position.

India would have faith in the batsman to utilize his strengths when facing the spinners.

Will Shubman Gill continue?

Following a string of centuries at the beginning of 2023, Gill was herald as the “next superstar of Indian cricket” and the heir to Kohli. However, her performance in the red-ball format has come under scrutiny. Gill’s best score this month was 36 against South Africa, but he has gone 11 straight innings without even scoring a fifty since his knock of 128 against Australia in March 2023.

Gill scored just 23 and 0 in two innings during the first Test match against England in Hyderabad. India’s options are limit, so Gill will likely get one last chance to qualify for the Vizag Test. Gill may have to make way for Rahul and Kohli, who will return for the third game, if he falters.

Who will replace Ravindra Jadeja?

For the second Test, India’s biggest concern will be finding a replacement for Jadeja. No other all-rounder in 53 Test cricket matches since 2016 has averaged over 40 with the bat and under 25 with the ball. Given that he was the squad’s backup spinner, Kuldeep Yadav could be a straight swap, even though it wouldn’t be a like-for-like replacement.

In addition, he has an outstanding record of 34 wickets at 21.55 since making his debut in 2017. However, bringing in the Chinaman would leave India’s batting lineup vulnerable going into the second Test. That might be a possibility, though, if Vizag delivers a stinker.
